The CIES – Centro di Ingegneria Economica e Sociale – is a non-profit organisation,  which gathers public and private partners. The public partners are: Università della Calabria, Regione Calabria (regional law n° 7/95), Politecnico di Milano, Istituto Superiore delle Comunicazioni (Ministero delle comunicazioni), ARSSA (Agenzia Regionale per lo Sviluppo e per i Servizi in Agricoltura). The private partners include Telecom Italia SpA, SI-IES S.r.l. (Istituto Europeo Servizi), Rubbettino Editore S.r.l., Pitagora S.p.A., Telespazio S.p.A., Nomisma S.p.A., Ericsson Enterprise S.p.A., Caliò Informatica S.r.l., Anap Leone XIII and Alitalia S.p.A.

Registered as a Research Laboratory of the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research (MIUR), the CIES is an organisation which has been operating in Calabria over the last 10 years. It carries out research, education and experimentation activities mainly in the field defined by innovation-knowledge-development.

 

The reference context is European, projected towards the Mediterranean and Central and Eastern Europe countries.

 

The Quality System operated by the CIES (as ued on ed by ficate n°4126CERTIQUALITY certificate n°4126 issued on June 12, 2001) is in compliance with the UNI EN ISO 9001:2000 standard for the following activities (SECTOR EA 35):

 

Design, development, experimentation and distribution of research activities referring to innovation in the field of networks and economic and social systems.

 

Design and distribution of educational services in the area of innovation.  

 

In accordance with Art. 14 cod. 9-15 M.D. n°593 August 8, 2002, CIES is registered as a Research Laboratory of the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research (MIUR) for activities pertaining to the following areas: Research and Experimental Development in Economics, Integrated Engineering Services and Special Education Schools and Courses.

 

ACTIVITIES

 

The Majise Project

 

The Majise Project, financed by MIUR, according to a Convention from 30/01/1998, has obtained High Patronage from the Presidency of the Italian Council of Ministers.

 

The main goal of the Project is to become the first investment able to carry out in one of the harshest regions in Southern Italy, such as Calabria, a structure for research and higher education capable of perceiving goals of excellency and, at the same time, contributing to the  socio-economic development of the area.

 

In particular the Majise Project’s main goal is to set up:

§       the “Scuola Superiore Majise” where research and higher education activities take place;

§       the “International Network of Innovation Sensors” Project, in co-operation with the universities and/or research centres of the main countries in the Mediterranean area and in the Central and Eastern Europe.

 

Scuola Superiore Majise

 

The Scuola Superiore Majise pursues research and higher education activities.  Its aim is to organize post-graduate and specialized courses.
